PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

what is Prp?

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a natural product created from your own body. A small amount of your blood is drawn and placed in a sterile tube that is spun down in a centrifuge to separate the different components of the blood. Red and white blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma (the clear fluid). This plasma now contains a higher than normal number of platelets and is called platelet rich plasma.

Is it better to have PRP with or without microneedling?

PRP stimulates collagen production and helps soften fine lines and improve skin. For best results, it is recommended to combine with microneedling. The PRP is applied throughout the procedure, bathing the skin for maximum results.

what areas can be treated with prp?

You can treat facial features such as the under-eye, smile lines, joints, and can be microneedled into the skin. You can also inject PRP in areas of tendon injuries, hair restoration, etc.

How long until I see results?

It takes 4-6 weeks for the body to produce the collagen for benefits to be seen.

What is the downtime from PRP?

Typically, downtime is 24 hours due to possible swelling, particularly around the eyes. Makeup is to be avoided for 24-48 hours to minimize the risk of infection. If bruising occurs, it is often very mild, pinpoint areas and resolves with 2-3 days.

am i a good candidate?

If you have cardiovascular disease or another condition that requires you to take blood thinners, you may not be a candidate for PRP therapy. Blood thinners affect your blood platelets, and you may not get the results you want from your treatment if you need to take this type of medication.
